The first place you want to start is your website. Word of Mouth and recommendations are fantastic but that level of lead generation will only ever make you a wage, it will only ever allow you to have one team and you will likely be in that team meaning getting off the tools and owning a business is unlikely.

When was the last time you made a large purchase and didn't check out the business or the reviews. chase and chase for good reviews on your favoured platform (ideally google) and do NOT give up, if you request a review and the client doesn't leave one chase them again (people are busy, it's not that they don't want to give one they are just busy)
Prospective clients will choose the company with 25 reviews over the one with 10 - Don't forget that!
Chase Chase Chase for reviews and if you have done work for a friend or family ask them, if you are subbied out by another contractor ask them too. Aim for a minimum of 25 reviews but the more the better.
Top Tip - Request a review at 7pm at night via email/text and provide the link for them to make it super easy and quick.
