Goal Setting

Goal Setting

30 March 2024

I  A Goal without a Plan is just a Wish!

(To benefit from this blog post, you must read top to bottom, watch video and take action. It WILL change your life!)

Goal setting has always been a huge part of my life, but so has dreaming. And I want to use this blog post to differentiate the two.

As a young boy, and still to this day, I will play the lottery. Of course in recent years, the national lottery in the UK has somewhat been overtaken by Euromillions. Even now I will spend the £2.50 on a Euromillions ticket (it used to be £1 for a lotto in the uk). I will simply dream for a few days.

Nowadays, IF you are lucky enough to win and buy your ticket on the app, you receive an email, telling you that you have won a prize!

I never open the app at this point.I spend the next day or so dreaming or visualising what I am going to do with the £60 million pounds that Euromillions are would give me.

I am a goal setter, but I am also still a dreamer.

Just like that kid from Muirhouse who would sit in his room, dreaming about the things he was going to do with the winnings:

  • I was going to buy Hearts FC
  • A car that I could drive when I was 17 (Ford Escort xr3i)
  • House for my parents so we could get out of Muirhouse
  • And a bunch of other stuff.

For me, this few hours was worth the quid alone, and now if/when I get that winning email, I sit on it – To this day I love it!

As I have got older I discovered that by visualising a dream (not the lottery) you could easily turn that into a goal using the law of attraction (bare with me)

You see goal setting IS simple but you must buy into it, you have to visualise it, feel it, smell it if you can and so on and let me give you an example…..

The Monterey 258 SS in red

I have no idea when the Monterey 258 SS will arrive, but I know that this is the boat I want. I already have plans for everything:

  • I will park it in Duquesa Marina, Costa del Sol (5 mins from my house).
  • I have created a playlist for the first time I take it out.

Even typing this blog post, I can feel the leather steering wheel. I’m now visualising myself, cruising through the Mediterranean Sea with my playlist on, shades on, my wife and the kids onboard drinking Champagne and juice. We will do a bit fishing, sunbathing and jumping in the sea.

There is a whole list similar to this, by doing this I am telling my subconscious mind that this is what I want, I trust in my subconscious to deliver it as so far literally everything I have asked for has been delivered.

Now I am not special! I am literally the same as you the only difference being perhaps that I dream more, I visualise more, I write down my goals and pin it to the side of my bed and I go into dream mode often and visualise me having it. I talk when not if I get the boat…

My other Goals

I will have them all. I don’t know when, but I do have dates attached.

  • A House for every season (Spain, Scottish Highlands, Florida and a motorhome for all over the world)
  • A Motorhome (T-Line version)
  • All my children (we have 7!) on the property ladder in next 10 years (1 competed so far)
  • Route 66 in my or a motorhome/camper
  • Monterey SS in Spain
  • Small fishing boat in highlands
  • Gleneagles Membership
  • Finca Cortesin Golf membership
  • £5m property portfolio with residual income

And a whole bunch of other stuff.

Having had 2 wives I’ve still got 1 😉 & 7 kids (3 step kids) , several businesses, lived poor and rich and travelled the world, had business coaches, life coaches, fitness coaches, wealth/finance coaches, nutrition coach and even a marriage counsellor a long time ago I feel I have ‘lived’ somewhat therefore at some point I fully intend to take Tradecoach Business Coaching into Life Coaching too. I honestly think I would be a very very good life coach and it’s another of my goals albeit for now I am loving changing lives here with tradesmen so this has my full attention for now but in time that is the plan.

Which leads me perfectly on to my biggest goal of all.

  • A Health & Wellbeing Centre in Marbella, Spain. This space will hold Detox weeks, wellbeing weekends and business retreats all year round. Me & My Wife will host the whole thing (with staff) and will focus on wellbeing, fitness (my wife is a fitness freak not me!) and life and business coaching…This is my dream and I would like to think that i can achieve this by 50 so 6.5 years to get going!

Goals must be broken down!

Here’s an example of how I plan to do this:

  1. Start Life Coaching within the next 2 years (I kinda do it now but nothing structured like Tradecoach)
  2. Start with one client then two…..
  3. Do several retreats with Tradecoach and then some low cost life coaching retreats in places like Ben Nevis, Norway and Spain.
  4. Create a full on Business Plan for the Spanish centre
  5. Visit several possible sites (consider self build)
  6. 2 year build (start marketing in year 2)
  7. Full on marketing campaign via website, social media and media

And this is what I wanted to talk about today – ask yourself these questions

When I mentioned the Spanish Centre in Marbella that seemed like a pretty huge goal right? (remember 10 years ago I couldn’t get a mobile phone contract I was that skint with poor credit)

But…..

When I broke it down into the 7 steps above it looked easy right?

Anyone who knows me and probably the ones reading who don’t know me couldn’t possibly look at these 7 steps individually and think I (or anyone) couldn’t achieve each goal (1-7) one by one.

AND THAT IS GOAL SETTING!!!

SET A GOAL – MAKE A PLAN – BREAK IT DOWN – GET TO WORK ON ITEM 1 ONLY…..ONCE COMPLETE GO TO 2….AND SO ON………….
GUY IT IS F***ING EASY!!

This video here is a tad woowoo and I cringe watching it but one thing is for sure – it’s very powerful to aid you in your quest to realise your biggest dreams – believe in it and believe in you – it IS possible

The word impossible spells IM POSSIBLE,

(Read that again)
