Cash in the bank is not real time
Video explanation (please like and subscribe)
Most tradespeople don’t struggle because they don’t earn enough. They struggle because they read their bank balance like it’s real-time profit. Cash in bank is NOT profit guys.
You check the account, see a healthy number, and think you’re flying. Then a week later you’re skint and stressed. That’s because the cash sitting in the bank often isn’t yours to spend. You’ve still got materials to pay for, wages and subcontractors due, plus overheads like fuel, insurances, tools, finance payments, software, and marketing likely due month end for the following month. On top of that, VAT (if you’re registered) isn’t your money, you’re holding it for HMRC. Corporation tax is also building up quietly in the background.
This is exactly why cash in bank feels like a rollercoaster in construction and trade businesses. The fix is learning to separate what’s “available” from what’s already allocated.
Your business isn’t broken and you are not doing the one step forward two back motion you just don’t understand cashflow and liabilities..
Inside our Profit & Loss module, we go deep on the numbers that actually matter. We break down how to price properly, how to save properly, and how to leverage profits without draining the business. You’ll learn to retain some of the profit for contingencies, VAT, corporation tax, and future growth, instead of accidentally spending it and paying the price later.
