The first 5-minute step into property investing (and why you’d be mad not to)
If property investing interests you (and in my opinion it should), this post is your first proper step towards building wealth for you, your family, and the generations after you.
And I’m keeping this simple. Because most people don’t fail in property due to lack of knowledge.
They fail because they don’t take the first step.
You’ve already got an unfair advantage
If you’re a tradesman (or you run a trade business), you’ve got a skillset most “property investors” would kill for.
You can build.
You can fix.
You can spot bodge work.
You know what things actually cost.
You’ve got contacts for materials, labour, plant, and specialist trades.
That means you can add value faster, cheaper, and with less risk than the average office-worker investor who needs to outsource everything.
So yes, I’ll say it.
With your skillset, your team, and your network, you’d be foolish to ignore property.
Your first step (takes 5 minutes)
Set up a limited property company today. Not tomorrow. Today.
Because once that company exists, you’ve got movement.
You’ve went from “aye one day I’ll do property” to “I’m now building a vehicle to buy assets”.
Even if you do nothing else this week, you’ve moved the needle.
Name example:
“XYZ Properties Glasgow Ltd”
(or whatever fits your area and brand)
Here’s the official Companies House link to set it up
Use the GOV.UK service to register your company with Companies House. (GOV.UK)
https://www.gov.uk/limited-company-formation/register-your-company
The SIC code you should use (this matters)
When you register, it’ll ask for a SIC code (what your company does).
For most trade business owners starting property properly, the usual one is:
68209 – Other letting and operating of own or leased real estate (typical for buy-to-let / holding rentals). (resources.companieshouse.gov.uk)
If you’re planning to flip properties (buy, refurb, sell), you may also use:
68100 – Buying and selling of own real estate. (resources.companieshouse.gov.uk)
If you’ll be doing property management for other people (not just your own properties):
68320 – Management of real estate on a fee or contract basis. (resources.companieshouse.gov.uk)
If you’re unsure, don’t overthink it. Most of you should start with 68209.
Why I’m not giving you the next steps yet
Because what’s the point?
See all the “strategy” chat… BRR, HMOs, rent-to-rent, developments, bridging, angel investors… it’s just noise if you’ve not even created the company.
So do this first.
Get the company set up.
Then we talk funding, finding deals, adding value, and building a portfolio using your trade advantage.
If you want, once you’ve set it up, message me on whatsapp the company name and what your first property goal is (monthly cashflow, flipping profit, or long-term portfolio wealth) and I’ll tell you the next 3 steps.
